Home addition in Greenbank, Washington

Located on the west side of Whidbey Island, in Greenbank, Washington, this addition places nearly 1,800 square feet of living space between an existing home and a detached garage. By placing the living room, dining, and kitchen on the second floor, and cantilevering a deck over the existing home’s roof, a sweeping 180° view of the Puget Sound and Olympic Peninsula become a major focal point. While one of the major constraints was to keep costs down as much as possible, there was never any question that the view was paramount. To achieve this goal, two large panel folding doors in the kitchen and living room allow the owners to revel in the beauty of unrivalled Pacific Northwest sunsets.

A building permit has been approved and construction is expected to fully begin when the weather allows.
